Oh Autumn!

Autumn is my favourite season. The light is just magnificent, the smells of the cold breeze at night and the delicious roasted chestnuts, the changing colours of the leaves and the first rains.

For me, autumn means to take out my wool scarf and hat, shorten days but an incredible light. Clouds, some rain, leaves everywhere, photographs of all of it.

But, unfortunately, this year is not going really well. Autumn weather is not still here, the heat is incredible high compared to years back, the rain, the scarf and the hats are missing and it doesn’t seem like they’re going to be coming anytime soon.

It’s a shame what we’re all doing with our nature, our Earth, our future. Still, autumn is my favourite season, even if it doesn’t exist anymore in Madrid.

Ps: this is Aranjuez (a great place to photograph autumn) a few years ago.

Autumn is my favourite season. The infinite tones of colours on every tree, the leaves on the ground, the sky in grey and blue, the smell of roasted chestnuts coming from street vendors, that chilly mornings and evenings… The list is endless. But what I love the most about Autumn is taking photographs of all of that. Especially the trees and leaves.

All the photographs were taken in the gardens of the Royal Palace of Aranjuez, a place I love to visit in this time of the year to walk amongst the leaves and trees, and of course to take a lot of photographs.

And what better accompaniment than listen to “Autumn leaves” by Miles Davis.

Analogue love: Aranjuez

Aranjuez is one of my favourite places to take photographs, especially in autumn and spring. The gardens of the Royal Palace are amazing.

This time the camera was my old Halina Paulette. I love this camera but for now I’m trying not to use it {I really have to hold me back!} because the film wind is almost blocked and I panic just to think it might break while winding the film… I’m searching photography shops and repair services that doesn’t cost me an arm and a leg… I’m dying to use it again! The film was a Colour slides Fujichrome Sensia with ASA/ISO 100, expired in October 2010, so the developing was cross-process, which, by the way, I love.

ReflectionsThis is one of my favourite photographs… When I took it I didn’t know if it’ll come out well… but that’s the magic of analogue photographs! {and expired films} But when I saw it I just love it. I hope you like it too!

Aranjuez (II): Royal Palace and Iglesia de San Antonio

Aranjuez is one of my favourite cities. Situated just a few km from Madrid, it’s the perfect place to spend the day in, walking through the gardens, visiting the interior of the Palace or just taking a coffee.

As you can imagine, I have tons of photos of Aranjuez, especially of Autumn, with the trees full of different colours and the leaves on the ground.

{Façade of the Royal Palace of Aranjuez}

{Iglesia de San Antonio – St. Antonio’s Church}

I decided to give a X-Process / Vintage / Whatever look to this photo of the church… I like it more like this than the original one.

{Shadows in the Palace}

I’m not very sure of this photo… I like the sun and the arch but not the point of view… Anyway, finally I decided to post it too.

Perspective at sunset

It’s been a while since the last time I post something. It’s not as if I was busy or didn’t have any photo to show, but that I was completely uninspired… and the heat waves we’ve had (another one is coming) in Madrid in the past few weeks weren’t helpful either…

Anyway, here I come again, with a photo of the arches in perspective of the Royal Palace of Aranjuez.
